An aggressive salesman who smelt of alcohol threatened a Nottinghamshire villager after they refused to take up his doorstep offers. Steven Langley, 44, arrived at a home in Gotham, in the borough of Rushcliffe, at around 1pm on March 21, to try to flog some items to its occupant.

He was later arrested after worried neighbours called police officers to the scene. The salesman, who had been "tormenting residents in a number of local villages", according to police, has now been banned from selling items door-to-door or in public by a court order.Langley, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to acting as a pedlar without a pedlar’s certificate when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 17.
