Lord Heseltine said Boris Johnson’s response to the report once again revealed his “willingness to adapt the facts to any propagandist technique he finds convenient”
Asked whether he believed there was any way Mr Johnson could stage a comeback following his decision last week to resign as an MP, the peer said: “I cannot believe a Conservative Party could ever allow a candidate of this sort to be adopted.”in a political “punch-up” with his predecessor, who has repeatedly stated he will return to frontline politics.
He added that “unpredictability” was one of Mr Johnson’s characteristics, and he will do “whatever he thinks suits him”. He said that the most important conclusion to be taken from the Committee’s report, was the evidence of Mr Johnson’s “willingness to adapt the facts to any propagandist technique he finds convenient, which he did, with devastating effect on the worst political decision of my life, which is Brexit”.
