The New York Mets, who has won 12 of their last 17 games, will try to continue that success when they welcome the Boston Red Sox to Citi Field on Tuesday night.

But they have turned things around since June 1, winning 50 of 81 games to move a half-game behind Atlanta for the National League’s final playoff spot.They beat the Red Sox on Monday night in Game 1 of the three-game series by a score of 4-1 as Brandon Nimmo hit an RBI double and saved a run with a terrific catch in center field and Francisco Lindor singled twice, scored a run and was plunked by a pitch. His second base hit drove in Luis Torrens to make it 4-1 in the fourth.
“He’s everything you could ask from a player. Just proud to write his name in the lineup every day,” Mendoza said.
