Boulter understood that a straight-set victory in any of the three rubbers against the hosts would guarantee GB's qualification as Group F winners. In the first match, Boulter triumphed 6-2 6-1 within 70 minutes, clinching qualification before Australia won the subsequent two encounters.
Alex de Minaur, Boulter's fiance, overwhelmed GB's Billy Harris 6-2 6-1 before partnering with Gadecki in mixed doubles to defeat Charles Broom and Olivia Nicholls 6-3 7-6 (7-3). Despite all three teams in the group finishing with the same points, GB secured the top spot due to winning the most sets. 'I've been trying to avoid all the stats on all this but we were at dinner with Laura Robson last night, and she thankfully told me I had to win in straight sets,' Boulter said.
