Jarrod Bowen has scored just one goal less than Mohamed Salah in the Premier League this season

The West Ham United winger has been in exceptional form this season, bagging six goals in nine top-flight appearances. An impressive start to the campaign earned Bowen an England call-up for the first time in 18 months.

Ironically, his goal cancelled out Salah’s 16th-minute opener - the man West Ham teammate Michail Antonio believes he can replace in the coming years. He told the Footballer’s Football podcast: “He is a bagsman. Everything he’s touching is turning to gold right now, but hey, it’s going to cost some serious dough, man just signed a seven-year deal!

While Bowen refused to be drawn over transfer speculation, he did acknowledge Salah as an influence on his career. A right-footed forward with a knack for scoring goals, the Hammers talisman implements many of the same attributes to his own game. “I’m always usually in a position in the box where I know a chance might fall to me. It’s something I’ve been working on myself really with my dad. He spoke to me about it, he was a centre-forward and he understands it.
