Box Elder School District is gearing up to let students and teachers use AI as soon as the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.
FILE - In this April 15, 2019, file photo, instructors from Raphael House lead a classroom discussion about consent and healthy relationships with a class of sophomores at Central Catholic High School in Portland, Ore. Because this tech is developing so fast, educators don't want students to fall behind in learning how to use it."I've tried it out to see what it does," he said, as well as one of his sons in school.
"We don't want our students to be behind the curve," said David Blake, Education Technology Coordinator for the Box Elder School District."If we use it more as a tool to say, 'Hey, here's how you can advance,' then that's what they'll think when it's presented to them," Blake said.
"So it's walking them through in a way that is appropriate for students to learn instead of just getting the answer," Blake said. When asked about concerns regarding cheating, Blake said, "Cheating has been around probably since the first assignment was ever given, so we're not trying to eliminate cheating because that's impossible."
The hope is to let teachers tinker with this over the summer and fully launch it to students at the start of the school year in August or September.
