Tragic boxer Willie Limond's heartbroken son has broken his silence on losing his hero dad. Jake Limond insists his death from a suspected seizure was "random" and had nothing to do with numerous head blows during his stellar ring career.
The ring king was found unresponsive in his car in Coatbridge on April 6 - just weeks before he was due to fight Geordie scrapper Joe Laws in a comeback bout in Glasgow. He was rushed to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie where he remained in a critical condition until passing away on 15 April.
"As if it was some overnight thing and in the morning he’d wake up and just be a bit unwell. But then the next day we were told it was quite bad actually. After the second day me and Drew knew it was going to happen but even when it did it didn’t feel real." Jake understandably admits how losing their dad has left a big hole in their lives. He said: “To have our dad gone felt strange. He was a big part of our lives. He was a big character, not just a normal guy. He was more like our actual pal.
