A young boy who was hit and killed by a car outside a school in Hobart’s north has been identified as Marshall Oakley Stagg. The 12-year-old was hit on Main Rd in Glenorchy, near Cosgrove High School, just after 3pm on Friday. “Despite attempts by emergency responders, the boy passed away at the scene,” Tasmania Police said. “Our thoughts are with the boy’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“Happy-go-lucky and, as described by his mum, would say the most random things daily. “That smile would lighten up any room he walked into.” The North Hobart Junior Football Club, where Marshall’s older brother plays, said it was “with heavy hearts” it acknowledged Marshall’s “dreadfully sad” death. “We’re so very sorry that this has occurred for the whole Oakley Stagg family and from our broader NHJFC family send our deepest sympathies,” the club said.
