6 meters (8ft 6in) and nearly 60cm (2ft) wide, was estimated to weigh between 60kg and 80kg (132lb and 176lb). A temporary Det Ch Insp Michael Pannell revealed at the inquest that the mirror was attached to the wall by brackets but had come apart, leaving it leaning precariously. Det Ch Insp Pannell stated that the initial report indicated a large mirror had fallen on a child who was found unconscious. Det Insp Fred Tomkins, in his report, concluded that Freddie exerted very little force and that the mirror must have been extremely close to or balanced on its tipping point. Freddie was rushed to Colchester Hospital and subsequently transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on August 2, 2021. Senior Coroner Lincoln Brookes, while acknowledging the distressing nature of the CCTV footage, decided not to play it during the inquest. He informed the jury that the footage showed Freddie entering the lingerie section with his mother and friend before the mirror fell, causing severe head trauma
