The dog left the boy with a fractured skull and lifelong injuries so severe he needed muscle grafts to rebuild his face

A woman broke down in tears as she was sentenced for being in charge of an XL Bully which crushed the head of a four-year-old boy in a savage attack. Stacey Smith, 32, had been looking after the dog in her home for 10 days when it attacked.

The boy's mum started screaming and trying to get the dog to stop. Neighbours who heard the screaming rushed to help. Mirislava Zaloudakova managed to pull the dog away. He needed a muscle graft to repair the most severe injuries - and all the scarring will be permanent. He is also continuing to suffer from severe headaches and flashbacks.

Nola was seized by police and euthanised. Smith pleaded guilty to being a person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.
