Schoolboy screams after skin breaks out in painful blisters from 'UK's most dangerous plant'
A schoolboy was left crying in pain and unable to walk after he was stung by 'Britain's most dangerous plant' during a trip to the beach.
Unable to walk properly, he was taken to A&E at Arrowe Park Hospital, with doctors initially "baffled" over the burn-like blisters. Nan Debra now believes the blisters - which more than doubled in size - were caused by a giant hogweed sting. "We were watching him. He went to the back of the sand dune and back to the front. Whether he's put his foot in those weeds as he's run around..."
The 62-year-old said Jaxon, who plays football for Marine Academy, is "not one to cry". She continued: "He's a footballer, an attacker, so he's used to being taken out when he's playing football he just gets back up.Debra said they initially thought her grandson had been stung by a spider, until she shared pictures of his blisters to a local Facebook group. More than 300 people commented on the post, with many sharing photos of similar injuries caused by giant hogweed.
