The San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk are marching toward a long-term deal with one another.

Aiyuk has seen multiple offers come across the table from the 49ers, and while a new deal is not done, it seems like the momentum is heading in that direction.
Aiyuk and the 49ers started talking about a new extension two weeks ago, opening up dormant talks that had not occurred since May. The hurdle in the deal seems to be that Aiyuk wantinto the fourth year of his deal, something that the 49ers do not want to do by agreeing to most of the first three years.
That hurdle is no small hurdle, though, as it seems the 49ers feel like they have caved a lot already, but Aiyuk is not budging on his demands. The Pittsburgh Steelers, meanwhile, have both a trade in place and a new contract in place with Aiyuk; they are simply waiting to hear back from the 49ers’ general manager, John Lynch, on the future of the deal. Yet, the closer it gets to the regular season, the offer might have to change.
Either way, the Steelers seem more on the outs here as Aiyuk and the 49ers continue to inch closer toward that deal. With the cut-down day coming in about a week, the Steelers must watch for any wide receivers that might come available. That room needs help one way or another, and if Aiyuk coming is not the solution, then someone else from the outside needs to be the guy that the Steelers add to fill in the gaps.
