Farmer Jemma Harding, 40, had feared her livestock would drown after torrential rain caused the River Stour to burst its banks.
The five sheepdogs worked tirelessly for 40 minutes, swimming through strong currents to round up the flock and stop them from climbing on one another.Jemma, who works n Knighton Farm House near Wimborne, Dorset, said: ‘I was totally caught out by the floods. There’s just no way I could have saved those sheep without my dogs. The sheep started climbing on top of each other out of fear
‘Some of them don’t even like water, like my eldest, Bee, who doesn’t going swimming in the sea when I take them down to the beach. But they all got stuck in.’Jemma had been ‘tossing and turning’ throughout the night worrying about her sheep, and was relieved to find them marooned but alive on the morning of December 14.
