BREAKING: Man stabbed at busy tram stop in Manchester city centre
Police were scrambled to the Market Street Metrolink stop at around 4.20pm yesterday to reports of a 'serious assault'. They found a 34-year-old man at the scene with a stab wound.
Officers said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.Eyewitness reported seeing a large police presence in the area last night, with part of the tram stop cordoned off as police carried out investigations. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Market Street in Manchester at around 4.20pm on Sunday 8 January 2023 to reports of a serious assault.
"A 34-year-old man was found at the scene who had been stabbed. The injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Enquiries are currently ongoing." The Manchester Evening News has also contacted Metrolink and the North West Ambulance Service for a comment.
