Breast Cancer Now said that it was “deeply disappointed” by the decision.

The health regulator has “missed an opportunity” to give women with advanced breast cancer a life-extending drug, a charity has said.

Enhertu is the first licensed targeted treatment for patients with HER2-low breast cancer that cannot be removed surgically or which has spread to other parts of the body, also known as secondary or advanced breast cancer. After the review, Nice concluded that the new criteria “is working as intended and is allowing more medicines for severe, often life-long conditions to be recommended on the NHS”.

“This is in line with the higher value society gives to the important benefits such treatments provide.”
