£40k will go to essential services at a cancer centre after a patient and hundreds of school kids raised funds.

Northwood College for Girls celebrate winning the school’s shield at the Moor Park 10k and fun runs which raised £40,000 for Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood. Credit: East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ CharityBindya Kotecha, who is being treated for breast cancer at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood, walked the 10k route, which started at Merchant Taylors’ School.

Many people who took part in the Moor Park 10k, which helps pay for essential services at the centre, did so to thank staff for either taking care of themselves or family and friends. The patient said: “Since my diagnosis of breast cancer and the incredible care I am receiving, all I have wanted to do was raise awareness for this charity.

"I feel that my new mission in life is to get together and make a difference to other people’s lives.”Runners from Watford Joggers took first, second and third place in the 10K run.
