Rodgers was addressing the pyro charges Celtic were hit with and pointed out lack of full houses at Celtic away games

Brendan Rodgers is baffled by the number of empty seats in Scottish Premiership stadiums and reckons we must have the "richest league in the world."

Celtic have seen their away allocations cut at number of stadiums. The tit-for-tat ticket spat with Rangers rumbles on with neither allowing the other's fans into the home grounds. Hearts have slashed away allocations for both halves of the Old Firm, leading to Glasgow fans hitting out when home sections aren't 100 per cent packed with large numbers of travelling supporters unable to buy tickets.

Hot on the heels of Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell being slapped with SPFL charges for pyro displays at last month's Premier Sports Cup semi-finals, Rodgers was addressing the issue and the responsibility of the league to make the match-day experience a safe one for fans. And the Hoops boss couldn't resist a subtle dig at the lack of full houses he sees away from home.

“I know that's sometimes a wee bit of a challenge up here," he said. "Sometimes I look at some of the things that we do. We must have the richest league in the world up here because I see stands that are empty. So clubs must be full of money that they don't need the people in the grounds and the stadium.
