Brendan Rodgers admitted every manager wishes they could have more signings as he revealed work is already well underway for the January transfer window.
Celtic have come under fire for not strengthening more in the summer following their 2-0 Champions League defeat to Feyenoord - which came after last season’s Treble winners announced record-breaking financial results for the club. Ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime trip to Livingston, Rodgers was again quizzed on the recruitment in the wake of the defeat in Rotterdam.
Former defender Alan Stubbs slammed the board for their recruitment and Rodgers said: “If you ask any manager they’ll always be wanting more, of course. But we work with the players that’s here. I’m not saying that in any disrespectful way but every manager will tell you they maybe wish they could have done one or two more signings but the window closed.
Meanwhile, Liverpool loanee Nat Phillips remains a doubt for the journey across the M8 after missing the Feyenoord clash. Rodgers told Sky Sports: “We’ll see how Nat Phillips is. He obviously rolled his ankle quite badly last weekend and missed the week so we’ll see how he is. "We’ve still got another 24 hours to go before we make the team but apart from that everyone else is okay, Reo Hatate got more game time and is still finding his way to fitness so it was good to get him on the field but other than that no other injuries. Cameron Carter-Vickers will be early October so he’s still a bit away.”
