Soul singer Brenton Wood has died of natural causes at the age of 83. Wood's manager Manny Gallegos confirmed the musician's death, stating that Wood had passed away from natural causes. Before his death, Wood reportedly said, 'Catch you on the rebound,' referencing his 1967 hit song. Born Alfred Jesse Smith, Wood signed with Double Shot Records in 1967. His song 'Oogum Boogum' became a massive hit in 1967, reaching number 19 on the Billboard R&B charts.
The song has since become a cultural touchstone, appearing in several films and television shows, including 'Almost Famous' and 'Don't Worry Darling'
