"This is about a bill that breaches the terms of a treaty where the ink is barely dry," he said, urging Conservative MPs to vote against the government.

Meanwhile more Tory former cabinet ministers, including Sajid Javid and Jeremy Wright QC, came out to say they would not vote for the government. Conservative backbencher Bob Neil said the government's plan was"needless, egregious and potentially damaging", adding it was"not something any country should do".
