Exciting but worrying.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Bridget Jones 4 will continue the story of the title character after her marriage with Mark Darcy , and it might have one key character returning, paying off an eight-year-old twist but with a huge risk. In 2001, the world met Bridget Jones in Sharon Maguire’s rom-com Bridget Jones’s Diary, based on Helen Fielding’s 1996 novel of the same name.
Hugh Grant’s Return In Bridget Jones 4 Pays Off Bridget Jones’ Baby’s Daniel Cleaver Twist Hugh Grant’s Absence In Bridget Jones’s Baby Made Way For A Double Twist A fourth Bridget Jones movie was announced to be in development in late 2022, but there haven’t been many updates since then. What's known about Bridget Jones 4 so far is that it will most likely be based on Fielding's novel Mad About the Boy, and a recent report claims that both Firth and Grant are reprising their roles.
At the beginning of Bridget Jones’s Baby, Bridget attended the memorial of Daniel, who was believed to have died in a plane crash. By taking him out of the picture, Bridget Jones’s Baby was able to bring Dempsey’s Jack in, but, at the end of Bridget Jones’s Baby, as Bridget and Darcy celebrated their wedding, a newspaper headline revealed that Daniel had been found alive.
Although the past Bridget Jones movies have been about Bridget being in the middle of a love triangle, Bridget Jones 4 doesn’t necessarily have to follow that line. The novel Bridget Jones 4 will be reportedly based on sees Bridget adapting to single parenthood and re-entering the dating scene after Darcy’s tragic death. It’s unknown how closely Bridget Jones 4 will adapt the novel, but if Darcy doesn’t die and Daniel returns, the sequel risks repeating the storylines of the first two movies.
