Stuart Greaves had no idea when he went for his routine eye test in November 2021 that it would result in him being referred to hospital and diagnosed with ocular cancer.
"In order to take a closer look at what was going on, I asked Stuart to come back the next day so I could dilate his pupils. Stuart said:"When Teresa returned after the OCT scan and asked about my general health, I knew something was wrong. I was so surprised because I only went to Specsavers for a routine eye test.
At the hospital, Stuart had both Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography scans to ensure the cancer was localised to his eye, which it was, before a treatment plan was agreed. "We moved forward with my treatment plan, which included surgery to have four metal targets attached to the back of my eye so that I could then have proton beam therapy.
