Female musicians dominated last year's music charts, spending the most weeks at number one since records began
As the home of the fab four, Liverpool holds a golden place in music history. But today, the city's music scene can pose a brutal challenge for many up-and-coming artists as they fight to carve out a space in an increasingly competitive world.
"It doesn't feel like a big music scene because a lot of venues only want cover artists, and people don't come for music, they come for a drink and a chat. Rose Greenwood of BBC Radio Lancashire, Eleanor, Zara Smile, Shannon Gillespie, Ffion, and Sophie Mac of Mersey Radio will perform on Sunday, April 28. While FEMSTIVAL will showcase only female artists, male musicians will have their own chance to perform at a LEMAN event - "Testival" - in June.
