Authorities said the shirtless climber was arrested and accused of climbing the iconic structure in Paris on Sunday afternoon in 32C heat.

He has now been has been identified as a 33-year-old unnamed British man. The tourist attraction was sealed off whilst police dealt with the incident. The Mirror reports that a video captured the shirtless man climbing beyond Olympic rings that had been put in place for the Games.

"The arrested man is British and a professional climber, and he is cooperating with the authorities." The man, who did not have a rope, safety harness or any other specialist equipment, looked into a camera straight after his arrest and said: "Bloody warm, innit?" The ascent impressed tourists who could be heard gasping at the sight of his climb, which took place just above the Olympic beach volleyball court. A spokesman for Sete, the Eiffel Tower operating company, said: "The site reopened around 3.30 pm and is operating completely normally."
