The island of Zante where the incident happened A British man has died after losing his balance while climbing on a balcony in Greece. The 23-year-old plunged to the ground ‘head-first’ from the railings of a hotel in the party island of Zante, located off the Mediterranean coast and part of the Ionian islands. It is understood that he was trying to get off the balcony. As soon as he stepped on the handrail, he lost his balance and fell the ground from about 1.5 meters high.
He was rushed to the same hospital with ‘serious injuries’, and he was intubated. The two incidents do not appear to be related, even if they happened just a few hours from each other. They both took place at different locations on the island, at separate hotels, and no third party seems to be involved. Zakynthos Police Department are carrying out an investigation.
