Thousands of people queued all night to pay their respects in Westminster Hall, with many shedding tears for the Queen

The queue will be closed to new entrants at some point over this weekend, when officials decide no-one else will be able to make it in time to see the Queen ahead of the end of the lying-in-state period at 6.30am on Monday.

It is expected tens of thousands more people will file past the coffin after the Queen’s lying in state began at 5pm yesterday. The King, his siblings and children and other Royals followed the Queen’s coffin in a 40-minute procession as it travelled from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall yesterday.

The coffin is guarded at all hours by units from the Sovereign's Bodyguard, the Household Division or Yeoman Warders of the Tower of London.
