British sportswoman Hannah Cockroft and television presenter Alan Titchmarsh are among several celebrities who have been honored in the New Year Honours . Actor Stephen Fry, former England manager Gareth Southgate, and London mayor Sadiq Khan have been knighted, while Paralympian Hannah Cockroft has been awarded a CBE after dominating the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Leeds-born cyclist Tom Pidcock has also been awarded an OBE.
Bafta-winning actress Sarah Lancashire says being recognized in the New Year Honours is an “unexpected delight”. Lancashire, known for her roles in Happy Valley and Last Tango In Halifax, has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to drama. Sir Stephen Fry, whose accolades include BBC comedy Blackadder and hosting quiz show QI, was recognized for his contributions to mental health awareness, the environment, and charity.
