British actress Barbara Leigh-Hunt, known for her roles in films like 'Frenzy' and television series like 'Henry VIII and His Six Wives', has passed away at her home in Warwickshire.

British actress Barbara Leigh-Hunt , whose film and TV career spanned more than five decades, has died at her home in Warwickshire, her family has said. Barbara, who began her career on the stage and won an Olivier Award for her performance at the National Theatre in An Inspector Calls in 1993, was best known on screen for her roles in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1972 thriller Frenzy , the historical drama Henry VIII and His Six Wives and as the vice principal in Billy Elliot .

Barbara was born in Bath in 1935, and began her stage career at the Bristol Old Vic, before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company. She made her screen debut in a 1969 episode of the spy drama Callan, starring Edward Woodward, and her first movie role was in Alfred Hitchcock’s controversial thriller Frenzy three years later.

In an interview with the BBC in 2017, she spoke about working with the legendary director. "With me Hitch was remarkably kind and considerate. He knew it was my first film and that I was terrified. He had my chair placed beside his on the studio floor and he let me sit through rehearsals so I could get a feel for film,” she said. “So many people now try to psychoanalyse Hitch and people talk about his dark side," she added.
