The airline has been running weekend flights from the airport to Dublin, Malaga, Majorca, Bergerac and Faro during the summer months. It did not explain why the flights – run by BA’s subsidiary, BA City Flyer – were being scrapped.
’ A spokesperson from Southampton Airport, meanwhile, said it is ‘disappointing when any route is removed’, but added, ‘we are in constant dialogue with airlines regarding the introduction of new services and that includes backfilling the routes withdrawn by British Airways.’ Last year, the airport unveiled its extended runway, which it said was critical for handling a wider variety of aircraft.
