A British couple who were among the four people killed after two helicopters crashed near a theme park inDiane and Ron Hughes, 57 and 65, were from Liverpool and married in 2021, their families confirmed in a statement.
Families were seen watching one of the helicopters take off, waving to passengers before they witnessed what Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, described as an “unthinkable tragedy”. A 10-year-old boy who was on board is in a critical condition, while two others, a 33-year-old woman and a nine-year-old boy are seriously injured.People paid glowing tributes to him online, recalling his passion for flying and his generosity – including efforts to get emergency aid to help residents cut off by flooding in nearby Ballina in February 2022.
