Police in France are investigating the deaths of a British couple found dead in their villa in the isolated village of Les Pesquiès, north of Villefranche-de-Rouergue. The couple, believed to be in their 60s and residents of the village for over a decade, were discovered by a neighbor who became concerned after failing to get a response from their home. French authorities, alerted by the neighbor, found the bodies yesterday.
A source close to the investigation suggested the isolated location of the villa, situated near dense woodland, may have made it a target for burglars. The neighbor, known to frequently accompany the couple on long walks, is currently assisting detectives with their inquiries. Prosecutors are reportedly not ruling out any theories at this stage. The Foreign Office has confirmed it is providing support to the family of the deceased couple and is in contact with the French authorities
