British troops sent to Poland-Belarus border
The UK is sending troops to Poland to help deal with an escalating crisis which has seen migrants trapped on the border with Belarus.
The Russian Defence Ministry said that its troops will parachute into Belarus’s Grodno region, which borders Poland as part of training exercises to ‘test the readiness of rapid response forces.’supports HTML5 video The Belarusian Defence Ministry accused Poland on Thursday of an ‘unprecedented’ military build-up on the border, saying migration control did not warrant the concentration of 15,000 troops backed by tanks, air defence assets and other weapons.
