Robyn Taylor, a 34-year-old British woman, suffered a stroke while visiting her parents in Spain, leaving her unable to return home. Her family is now fundraising to bring her back to the UK for rehabilitation.
The family of a British woman have said that her universal credit payments were stopped after she suffered a stroke while visiting her parents in Spain . Robyn Taylor, 34, had gone to see her parents Anthony and Karen Sumner when she had a stroke on September 10, the day before she was due to fly home.

'You become physically and mentally exhausted. It just consumes you like it would every body. You just have to remain positive and just keep going.' Robyn had been receiving universal credit when she visited her parents, who paid for her trip over. While the rules do say that you can be out of the country for a limited period Robyn's stroke meant that she inadvertently passed this point. 'Because Robyn was in between jobs she was receiving universal credit,' said Anthony. 'She said before she came, I need to make a phone call, you're allowed to be out of the country for a month before it affects it. 'She did that and they said that's fine.
