UK people have mocked the US for not having a 'game-changing' feature on their plug sockets, suggesting the country must be 'living in the dark ages'
We're all keenly aware of the key cultural nuances that set us apart from our American counterparts. Our friends across the Atlantic would never dream of adding a "u" into words like colour, nor do we join in their celebrations for holidays such as Thanksgiving.
Yet recently, another domestic discrepancy has thrown British social media users into a mix of confusion and amusement. Some even suggested Americans must be "living in the dark ages" due to the absence of something we consider a basic household feature. Eagerly presenting this new apparatus - essentially a plug socket with an integrated switch - she hailed it the "coolest thing ever". With visible excitement, she demonstrated how simply toggling the switch could power her air fryer on or off.
Yet, this isn't the norm in the US where, as highlighted in a TikTok video, switch-fitted plug sockets exist but are not a standard feature in most houses.
