Brits risk a driving ban after stricter MOT test removes almost three million dangerous cars from UK roads in first year
STRICTER rules introduced to the MOT test have taken nearly three million dangerous motors off the road.Almost three million Brits failed their MOT due to 'dangerous' defectsNew DVSA figures reveal almost a third of the 31million vehicles that undertook the tougher test failed, with 2.9million of those deemed to have 'dangerous' defects.
Under the changes, drivers who are given a dangerous mark must get their motor repaired and retested before they are legally allowed to have them on the road. Give the horn a hoot or two to make sure it works. It is perhaps the easiest of pre-MOT checks to make. There are also stricter checks on tyres, which can fail if they are not properly inflated.
The investigation also revealed that motorbikes had the highest pass rates of all vehicles on the road, with 83 per cent getting the tick of approval.
