Two brothers, Mohammed Fahir Amaaz and Muhammad Amaad, appeared in court facing charges related to an alleged altercation with police officers at Manchester Airport in July 2024.

Two brothers appeared in court on Thursday (January 16) charged in connection with an alleged altercation with police at Manchester Airport in July last year. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, from Rochdale, faces two counts of causing actual bodily harm, one count of assaulting an emergency worker, and one of common assault. Muhammad Amaad, 25, also from Rochdale, is charged with one count of causing actual bodily harm.

The brothers, both dressed in grey suits, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court. They did not indicate their pleas to the charges during the 10-minute hearing. Mohammed Amaaz is accused of assaulting a member of the public, Abdulkareem Hamzah Abbas Ismaeil, by beating him on July 23, 2024, at Manchester Airport. He also faces charges of assaulting police officers PC Zachary Marsden and PC Lydia Ward, causing actual bodily harm on the same date and location. A fourth charge alleges he assaulted PC Ellie Cook, another emergency worker, by beating her on the same date at the airport. His co-defendant, Muhammad Amaad, also faces a single charge of assaulting PC Zachary Marsden at Manchester Airport on July 23.District Judge James Hatton addressed the defendants, noting that neither had made any indication of plea. He adjourned the case until February 13 when the pair will reappear at Liverpool Crown Court. After the hearing, the brothers' lawyer, Robbie Cole, delivered a statement as the pair stood behind him on the steps of the court. He said of his clients: 'They both appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court this morning. There was no indication of pleas at this stage, but our clients vehemently deny the allegations. Imran Khan KC has been instructed as senior counsel for the defence. At proceedings are live it would be inappropriate to comment further.
