Two brothers have been jailed for assaulting a man who tried to stop one of them from attacking a woman outside a bar in Arnold.
A man who tried to stop a woman being assaulted outside an Arnold bar ended up in hospital with injuries including a fractured jaw. Two brothers have now been jailed following the attack on Front Street in the early hours of February 3, 2024. Nottinghamshire Police says the victim of the attack told officers that the incident began when he saw one of the brothers, Jushuan Redmond, assaulting a woman outside a bar.
After intervening, the victim was punched, stamped on and kicked in an attack which also resulted in broken cheekbones and a broken nose. Jushuan Redmond, 18, of Birchfield Road in Arnold, pleaded guilty to committing grievous bodily harm with intent and was sent to a youth offenders' institution for five years. Jayreece Redmond, 21, of High Street in Heanor, Derbyshire, also pleaded guilty to committing grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as admitting a separate assault on December 9, 2023. Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham of Nottinghamshire Police said: 'This was a sustained attack on a man who was trying to prevent a woman being hurt. The two brothers responded to his intervention by punching, kicking and stamping on the victim. 'He was left with significant injuries which still to this day have an impact on both his and his family's lives. We won't tolerate the sort of violent behaviour displayed by the two brothers. 'Officers worked hard to trace the offenders and build a watertight case against them. We believe a number of people will have witnessed this disorder so I hope they welcome our robust response and the sentences handed down.
