As Southern California deals with an intense heatwave, a brush fire sparked in San Bernardino County , prompting evacuation warnings and a smoke advisory. Fire authorities said the fire, which was labeled the "Line Fire," was originally reported Thursday in the area of Baseline and Aplin streets in Highland . As of Friday afternoon, the fire has burned 750 acres and is 0% contained.
Authorities warn the air quality may reach levels unhealthy for sensitive groups to very unhealthy for areas near the fire. Those who reside in the area are asked to limit their time outdoors and avoid vigorous physical activity, to run their air conditioning and/or air purifiers, and keep their windows and doors closed. An evacuation warning remains in place for east Highland areas including the neighborhoods east of Church St, north of Highland Ave.
