‘Brutal action plan’ needed for our housing catastrophe

Calls are being made for an inquiry into the “inhibitors” of housing supply across Australia.

REINSW chief executive officer Tim McKibbin said all levels of government needed to work together with the industry to build thousands of homes with the disparity between demand and supply getting worse.“The inhibitors are things like the council taking forever for approvals,” he said. He said councils should be able to “declare their hand” and advertise what investment is needed in the area to allow the right developments to be processed quickly.
