Buc-ee’s could start construction in October on a $47.2 million store and gas station in San Marcos , according to a new state filing. The iconic Texas chain plans to build a 74,000-square-foot store on the Interstate 35 southbound frontage road near Yarrington Road , on the northern edge of the city. In a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation this week, Buc-ee’s said work could start on the new travel center on Oct. 1 and be completed by December 2025.
Here’s why the original Buc-ee’s went up in flames in Luling The city and Hays County have approved tax breaks for the company, with both local governments agreeing to rebate 50% of sales tax revenue from the new Buc-ee’s for 15 years. To qualify for the tax breaks, Buc-ee’s must have at least 175 full-time jobs at the travel center, and will make donations to the City of San Marcos Community Fund and Hays County Community Fund. Both agreements include only rebates for sales taxes.
