The Chancellor surprised MPs when she maintained a freeze that helps control the price of petrol.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has thrown a lifeline to motorists by extending the freeze on fuel duty in the Budget. She said prices will be controlled to help drivers in the cost of living crisis: She said increasing the tax would be the "wrong choice" and added: "No higher taxes at the petrol pump next year."
She said rises in taxes like national insurance for employers are necessary to get the country back on track. Reeves is the first female Chancellor and her Budget was the first Labour tax and spending statement since 2010.
