A reboot of the cult classic TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer is reportedly in development at Hulu, with Sarah Michelle Gellar in talks to reprise her role as Buffy Summers. Renowned director Chloé Zhao is set to helm the project, promising a new chapter in the Buffyverse. Details about the plot and other cast members remain under wraps.

As reported by Variety, the show is nearing a pilot order at Hulu — in other words, we are super close to an official announcement that, yes, it's happening. Gellar is in the final stages of talks to join the reboot, while Zhao, a longtime Buffy fan, is attached to direct and executive produce. Sisters Nora and Lila Zuckerman are also attached to write, showrun, and executive produce. Whedon, the original creator of the show is not amongst the production team.
