A black Bugatti with a 16-cylinder engine has been bought for nearly £14.4m - making it the most expensive new car ever sold.
La Voiture Noire - French for"The Black Car" - is a low-slung sports car with Bugatti's trademark front grille. Bugatti unveiled the car at the Geneva car show this week, and organisers and industry experts said it had gone for a record price.Stephan Winkelmann, president of Volkswagen-owned Bugatti, said:"The true form of luxury is individuality."
The car's main feature is its unique 1,500 horse power 16-cylinder engine which has never been fitted to a car before.Bugatti described the model as a homage to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic - only four were made between 1936 and 1938.
