Contents show Bungie won’t make Marathon free-to-play Not a hero shooter Destiny developer Bungie is reportedly planning to release its upcoming Marathon reboot as a $40 purchase, following the same plan as PlayStation’s failed Concord. Instead of going free-to-play like the current version of Destiny 2, players will have to pay to access the upcoming extraction shooter.
However, Bungie is keen to prove its worth with a premium release. In the past, every game from the studio has been released with an entry fee; even Destiny 2 used to be a premium experience. Not a hero shooter Alongside the news of Marathon’s price, the report also denies claims that the extraction shooter copies “hero shooter” elements from Overwatch and Valorant. Instead, the game is set to be using a classic “class” system, similar to Team Fortress 2.
