Johnstone Burgh relied on a spark from the bench to keep pace with the early WoSFL First Division leading pack.
Burgh were struggling to break down their stubborn hosts after the restart but with quarter-of-an-hour left, Jojo Gillespie stayed calm to net from the spot to level things up. He said: “We had two goals disallowed in the first half and I still haven’t had a proper explanation for either. Brophy’s free-kick in particular absolutely should have stood.“It was another two cheap goals that we conceded. We still weren’t aggressive enough defending our box and it really should have been a clean sheet.
“We were without Graham Dorrans, who had an ankle complaint we didn’t think was worth risking, while Kyle Lafferty is still out. He’s going to be back in light training this week but we won’t rush him back. While promotion to the Premier Division remains McKim’s “ultimate priority”, the gaffer admits his club will be targeting silverware given the talented squad they’ve mustered over the summer.
