Bezjar Mohammed claimed he ‘received a tip-off his stolen goods were in Preston’
Bezjar Mohammed, 34, had been the victim of a theft and had been tipped off his stolen goods were at the Store First self storage unit in the city, Preston Crown Court heard. The day before the break in, on February 24, 2024, a man registered to rent a unit giving Mohammed's details and driving licence as ID.
Around £40,000 of e-cigs were stolen from one unit. Another £150 of items were taken from a unit where teapots and coffee syrups were being stored. When he was given the location in Preston he acted "impulsively and out of resentment" and set about retrieving the goods he believed were his. Sentencing, Recorder Graham Lowe said: "This was a planned and organised burglary of this premises. You set about stealing £40,000 of e-cigarettes. The value of what was stolen was significant.
