Winston Allen, a 59-year-old with a long history of criminal offenses, was caught red-handed during a break-in in Cheltenham on November 5th. As police arrived, Allen made a desperate dash for escape, squeezing through a back door and scrambling onto the adjacent roof.
For a mind-boggling forty minutes, officers watched in bewilderment as Allen, realizing his predicament, continued to pace around the rooftop, unable to find a way down. He had managed to toss some of the stolen items into a nearby garden but was still in possession of a silver Rolex watch and a pair of earrings when he finally descended. Allen's spree wasn't limited to this one incident. He had admitted to another burglary earlier that evening at a nearby residence. Footage captured on body-worn cameras revealed officers surrounding the property, their voices echoing with commands for Allen to surrender, while their torches illuminated the desperate figure on the roof. During his arrest, Allen was found to have a gold chain and earrings, later identified by the victim as belonging to their home. A silver Rolex watch was also recovered, determined to be from the earlier burglary that night.
