The pair secured the first Paralympic doubles medal in table tennis since 1976
Burnley ’s Fliss Pickard credited her ‘little legend’ doubles partner Bly Twomey as they won table tennis bronze on Pickard’s long-awaited Paralympic debut.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling, especially to be joining this little legend on the podium,” Pickard said, who is part of Aldi’s Nearest and Dearest programme in partnership with Team GB, helping to maximise support and minimise potential distractions for athletes so that they can focus on their performance.
They were on the opposite side of the same scoreline as Huang and Jin came back into the game strongly and won comfortably to confirm Pickard and Twomey as one of two sets of bronze medallists, as is tradition in Para table tennis.
