The number of cancelled buses in South Yorkshire rose from 8,000 to more than 23,000 last year
has agreed to extend a £2bn scheme which provides financial support to operators across the country during the pandemic, until March.
He is also waiting on the outcome of an assessment which will look at whether buses should be brought back under public control. It applied for at least £430m of funding to support this plan from the Department for Transport, but was told in April it will receive nothing, because its bid lacked ambition.
