'The incident has left me very stressed'
A bus driver attacked during shameful disorder in Newton Heath spoke of his ordeal as a 13-year-old admitted his role in the trouble in court. Violence erupted in the Manchester suburb on July 31 as 'protesters' gathered outside a hotel though to have been housing asylum seekers.
Today eight more people - including a 13-year-old boy - appeared before a district judge. District Judge Lucy Hogarth dealt with the child first. The boy pleaded guilty to violent disorder after he was caught throwing missiles at police. The youth from Manchester, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was 'caught up' in the violent scenes as the 'hostile' and 'aggressive' crowd gathered.
